Delete from the App
Follow these steps inside the Ekmilan app:
- Open the Ekmilan app on your phone.
- Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar (person icon, rightmost tab).
- Scroll down and tap Account Settings (⚙️ icon under the Account section).
- Scroll to the bottom of the Account Settings screen to find the Danger Zone section.
- Tap the red Delete Account button.
- A confirmation dialog will appear. Type DELETE in the confirmation box to confirm your intent.
- Tap Delete Forever. Your account will be permanently deleted and you will be logged out immediately.
What Gets Deleted
Upon confirmation, we immediately and permanently delete:
- Your profile information (name, date of birth, photos, bio details)
- All swipe interactions, matches, and likes
- All chat messages and conversation history
- Your location data and cached profile information
- Your account credentials, authentication tokens, and stored phone number
- Your device push notification token (FCM)
- All pending notifications and activity
Deletion is processed immediately — there is no deactivation period or grace window.
Data Retained After Deletion
A small number of records are kept after deletion for legitimate safety and legal reasons:
- Safety block records — If another user has blocked you, we retain a one-way cryptographic identifier (an HMAC hash — not your phone number) within that block record. This cannot be reversed to obtain your phone number, and ensures that if you re-register, safety blocks placed by other users continue to apply.
- Terms acceptance log — A record that your account accepted our Terms of Service is kept for legal compliance. This contains only an internal account reference and the date of acceptance — no contact information.
- Moderation reports — If a safety report was filed against your account prior to deletion, that report is retained for moderation audit purposes. It contains no contact information.
- Security audit logs — Authentication events (login, registration, account deletion) are retained for up to 90 days and then automatically deleted. Logs contain only a masked identifier (last 4 digits of phone), IP address, and timestamp.

Can't Access the App?
If you are unable to log in (e.g. lost phone, unable to receive OTP), you can request account deletion by emailing us directly. We will verify your identity and process the deletion on your behalf.
